Unsane “No Chance”

I feel about Unsane the way I feel about the Pacific Northwest’s Unwound. I realize there’s nothing really special or unique to recommend them but they both have a sound I just like. Unsane remind me of smelly NYC subways and stepping on crack vials. Enjoy!

Public Nuisance “Love Is A Feeling”

You should know this band if merely for this album cover! Circa 1968.

Willie Joe Duncan “Unitar Rock”

Can YOU think of any 1956 song more rockin’?

Nikki Sudden & The Jacobites “Such A Little Girl”

This still sounds good almost 30 years on.

Reluctant Stereotypes “The Lull”

Not sure who this band was…but weird stuff.

Big Mama Thornton “Me And My Chauffeur”

I went to find her grave in Inglewood last weekend. She apparently was so poor that she was just buried in what amounted to a “potter’s grave” with a bunch of other people on the outer edge of the cemetary. Sad, but ironically, she left us with a lot of wealth.

Hot Snakes “Golden Brown” (Drive Like Jehu cover)

Footage I took of them at FYF. This song probably hadn’t been performed live for well over 15 years.

The Bats “North By North”

A classic pop song no one knows.
